Featured Recipe: Pickles You can pickle anything - It's easy! To make pickles, just slice your cucumbers however you like - or leave whole if you prefer. Then throw them in a glass jar with 1T salt, 1T sugar and equal parts water and white-distilled vinegar. The SPICEHOUND has a delicious pickling blend or make your own. Here are a few of my favorite pickle combinations:
Nicole Tuzzio, raw chef at The Root Cafe in Lakewood will host our next free cooking class, which takes place Friday, September 14 at 1:30-3:00pm at Old Stone Church. The Root Cafe is a vegetarian cafe, bakery and coffee shop with a menu that incorporates local and organic ingredients whenever possible. You can find Nicole every Thursday, 5:00-9:00pm, preparing a delicious raw menu for The Root's weekly Raw Food Night.

Classes are free and open to the public and include a guided market tour, hands-on instruction in meal preparation and tips on how to grow produce easily at home. Cleveland Cooks was made possible thanks to a grant from Neighborhood Connections and space generously donated by Old Stone Church.
