Broadway Farmers' Market First Day

Hey all you hungry people -- June is here, and hand-in-hand with the summertime is the Broadway Farmers' Market!

This year is all about NEW and FUN: You might remember last year's Warszawa Farmers' Market... well, this year we changed the name, changed the logo, and moved it right on Broadway Avenue, across the street from Third Federal Savings' headquarters (Broadway at Baxter Ave).

We also changed our hours: this year, we'll open at 4pm and close at 7pm (you can still head over to Dan Kane Park on E. 65th for the Warszawa Music Festival, which starts at 7pm each Monday). All you employed in the Village from 9-5 -- make sure to stop by on your way home from work!

And now (drumroll please), I'm happy to present our fabulous market vendors--many of which are new--for the market's Grand Opening this Monday, June 6:

Por-Bar Farms -- Medina-based, selling heirloom produce varieties
Green Corps -- Slavic Village-based, selling produce, berries and salsa
Shipley's Coffee House -- Slavic Village-based, selling smoothies, Italian soda, and coffee
Transylvania Bakery -- Slavic Village-based, selling Eastern European-style bread and baked goods
Hummingbird Creations -- Vermillion-based, selling handmade herbal and aromatherapy products (soaps, shampoos, lotions, teas and more!)
Noon Sharpening -- This guy hooked up an old sewing machine for sharpening knives -- bring anything with an edge, and he'll manually sharpen while you shop!
Joe Zastawny -- recent graduate of OSU Extension's Market Gardening Course; Joe will be selling through Growhio's community vendor assistance program!
Plant Kingdom -- a far-out vegan bakery from Akron... yum!

Other vendors who will join us later in the season:

Woolf Farms -- an orchard in Columbiana County; sells strawberries, peaches, apples and sweet corn in-season
Canal Corners -- farmers from the Cuyahoga Nat'l Park's Countryside Conservancy program, selling delicious produce

Make sure you get out to our Grand Opening celebration this Monday, June 6: a local drum circle from Community Assessment and Treatment Services will get your body rockin', and we'll be raffling off some game tickets for the first-place Cleveland Indians!

Okay, enough chatter! Start planning your shopping list! (and check out our brand new website!)

Yours in local food,

Emelio
